World Trial 2008 - Wales

Canada has been granted 8 places by ISDS for the 2008 World Trial which will be held at Dinefwr Park, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, (South) Wales over 11-14 September 2008. The week before, over 04-06 September, the ISDS will be holding its International Trials at Kinmel Park, Abergele, in North Wales.

Selection Criteria for the 2008 World Trial in Wales, UK

We have been awarded 8 places at the World in 2008. The top eight dog/handler combinations who want to go will be selected to go and represent Canada by the criteria below.

Handler must be member of CBCA and a Canadian resident, dog must be registered with CBCA – Application for both membership and registration must be postmarked no later than  June 1st, 2007.      It is suggested that the dog be registered with the ISO microchip for  that application. (ISO microchip will be required for travel to Wales).

Performance of dogs will be evaluated by criteria similar to those used for USBCHA points:

The six best trial performances  will count – trials must be open ISDS style field trials- minimum entries to be 10.  Trials with more than 40 entries who run  will count as a 40 dog Trial.

Dog will receive points equal to 20% of entries if 1st, minus 1 point for 2nd, minus 2 for 3rd , etc. Maximum entry runs to count is 40. So the maximum number of points at any one trial would be 8 for 1st ( 7 for 2nd etc) if 40 or more entries.

Winner of the CBCA Championship will automatically be given a place. The two qualifying days for the double lift CBCA Championship will count as two separate trials:
1nd place receiving 9 points, 2nd 8, 3rd 7, 4th 6, 5th 5, 6th 4, 7th 3, 8th 2 and 9th 1 point. .

It is the handler’s responsibility to inform the CBCA secretary of his/her  placings.  This should be done within 3 weeks of any trial.  Trial results  from March 1, 2007 to November 1st 2007 count. Standings will be posted on the CBCA website. It is also the handler's responsibility to check the site regularily to see whether their points are current (please wait 2 weeks after submitting points).

As there is some conflict with the USBCHA Finals only one handler will be representing Canada at the World Trial 2008
