The ISDS will be hosting the next World Sheep Dog Trials at Lowther Park, Cumbria (Northern England, known as the Lake District) over 15-18 September 2011. Canada has been granted 4 places by ISDS for the 2011 World Trial which will be held at Dinefwr Park, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, (South) Wales over 15-18 September 2011. The week before, over 04-06 September, the ISDS will be holding its International Trials at Kinmel Park, Abergele, in North Wales.
The number of Canadian entries has been set by the Society Council and it tried to be as fair as possible to all countries. taking many factors into consideration. There are 240 singles dogs to run in total. and the event will be organised on very similar lines to those applied for the 2005 and 2008 World Trials: two days of qualifying over three fields, a semi-finals day and a finals day.
As in previous years CBCA has agreed to act as facilitator in the selection process for the World Trial. Four handlers expressed an interest and have been selected to represent Canada: Mary Lou Campbell of Claremont, ON, Kathy Keats of Claremont, ON, Jennifer L'Arrivee of McBride, BC, and Wendy Schmaltz of Beiseker, AB.
