CBCA
Registration Process
Any
animal to be registered with CBCA HAS to have either a tattoo or microchip. Requests
without either of these cannot and will not be processed. For more information click
here.
Registration check list:
- Register a litter
- Register a grown dog (transfer from another registry)
- Transfer ownership of a non CBCA registered dog
- Transfer ownership of a CBCA registered dog
- Change information on a CBCA pedigree
a) Registering a litter:
One or both parents are both NOT registered with CBCA:
- Make sure that the registry is recognized by CBCA (Click
to see a list)PLEASE NOTE: Dogs from other
registries can be recognized as purebred by CBCA (see below) AS LONG AS
the dogs show at least 3 generations of recognized background. (For example
dogs registered with ABC or ISDS cannot be registered if parents or grandparents
are ROM, dogs from say AKC cannot be registered if any of the 3 generation
background is not from a CBCA recognized registry).
- Make a copy of the Non CBCA registered dog's pedigree
- Identify the pups with either tattoo or microchip. Fill in an application
form to register litter - please write clearly !
- If stud is owned by somebody else have them fill in and sign the Stud Service
Report on the Registration application. If the stud is not with his owner
at breeding have the person responsible for the stud at breeding sign the
stud service report and include explanation on seperate sheet.
- Sign and send in application with approbriate fee and the copy of the non
CBCA parent's pedigree. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED!
Both Parent are registered with CBCA
- Identify the pups with either tattoo or microchip. Fill in an application
form to register litter - please write clearly !
- If stud is owned by somebody else have them fill in and sign the Stud Service
Report on the Registration application.
- Sign and send in application with approbriate fee
- Make sure you identify whether dam or sire is being shown in conformation
(in this case pups will be registered in the Section B registry).
b) Register a grown dog (transfer from another registry)
- Make sure CBCA recognizes the registry PLEASE NOTE:
Dogs from other registries can be recognized as purebred by CBCA (see below)
AS LONG AS the dogs show at least 3 generations of recognized background.
(For example dogs registered with ABC or ISDS cannot be registered if parents
or grandparents are ROM, dogs from say AKC cannot be registered if any
of the 3 generation background is not from a CBCA recognized registry).
- Identify the dog with either tattoo or microchip
- Send copy or original of pedigree and tattoo, microchip information together
with fee and application form for transfer (click
here for form) to secretary
c) Transfer ownership of a non CBCA registered dog
- Make sure CBCA recognizes the registry PLEASE NOTE:
Dogs from other registries can be recognized as purebred by CBCA (see below)
AS LONG AS the dogs show at least 3 generations of recognized background.
(For example dogs registered with ABC or ISDS cannot be registered if parents
or grandparents are ROM, dogs from say AKC cannot be registered if any

- Identify dog with either tattoo or microchip (see
Identification Page)
- Make sure transfer is signed and filled out by previous owner
- Send copy or original of pedigree and tattoo, microchip information together
with fee and application form for transfer (click
here for form) to secretary
d) Transfer ownership of a CBCA registered dog
- Dog should already have either tattoo or microchip ID.Other requirements
are same as above but as the transfer form is located on back of pedigree
certificate you need to send in the original.
- Please note: According to the animal pedigree act it is the previous owner's
responsibility to transfer the dog.
e) Change information on CBCA registry
- Only some information can be changed: name of dog (previous name will be
added in ( ), address of owner.
- Tattoo information can be changed to microchip information (with documentation).
- To make any of these changes send pedigree or copy with fee to secretary.
PLEASE NOTE: INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS OR UNREADABLE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE
PROCESSED. PLEASE SEND ALL INFORMATION IN ONE PACKAGE!
